One image - many meanings

From my series Multitudes back in 2006, one painting named "displaced" had a surprising hit. Several websites and blogs used exactly the same image as an icon to illustrate their points of view, and each interpretation was totally different from one another. From Christian songs, to a sociology blog and a university text on sociology in Brasil.

Not for nothing their's a say "The beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" or in this case, "the meaning is in the eyes of the beholder".

Some asked for permission, some just added the www.sustigraphics.com url that was housing the image at that time. Here are some that are still on the web
